It is still a few months away, but it’s never too early to tell you about another great beer festival. Mark your calendars. This September 8th the Tacoma Craft Beer Festival returns to the shores of the Foss Waterway near downtown Tacoma. Event organizers learned a few things over the event’s first three years and the fourth annual Tacoma Craft Beer Fest promises to be the best yet. To begin with, for 2012 the event will feature more breweries and more beer. Also, we understand the event organizers made some changes behind the scenes to help insure that there are no beer shortages. You will find more details about the event below.
Just noticed this today. It’s been known for a week but they are apparently still looking for volunteers who can help clean up some sidewalks in exchange for beer and a tour.
RACKHOUSE PUB AND OSKAR BLUES BREWERY PARTNER FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE EVENT
For the second straight year, two Colorado businesses take to the streets to clean-up areas neglected by the city rewarding volunteers with free beer.

In March we posted a story about the introduction of Omission Beer (read it), which at that time was described as a new line of gluten-free beers from Widmer Brothers Brewing. We quickly learned that the term “gluten-free” is tricky. At that time the brewery was introducing the beer to the Oregon marketplace only. Today we announce the wider rollout of Omission Lager and Omission Pale Ale. The beer is now being distributed on the West Coast and should be available nationwide by mid-June (see the press release below).
Today is Bike to Work Day. Leave that old gas guzzler in the garage today and pull out the old bike. Put your work in your backpack, don your helmet and ride to work! Many cities are offering incentives today to pedal to work today. Join in! Here’s what’s happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, May 18th, 2012.

Roots Revival Carrot IPA debuts as Farm to Foam series premiere
Boulder, Colorado – May 17th 2012 – Twisted Pine Brewing Company’s Farm to Foam® series launches on Friday, May 18th with the introduction of Roots Revival, a carrot IPA created to applaud the Boulder Farmers’ Market’s 25th anniversary.
According to the brewery, the series is “a tribute to the sustainable spirit of Colorado.” With that goal in mind, Twisted Pine will source all ingredients for each beer in-state. The series will include 2-4 releases per year, and brewers aim to utilize not only locally grown grain and hops, but “fruits, roots, seeds and vegetables that spring from Colorado soil” as well.
Today is Pack Rat Day. For those who collect, save, hoard, hide, store and can’t seem to throw anything away – this day is for you. It might be a good idea to take some of those empties out to the recycler though. Here’s what’s happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, May 17th, 2012.

Sometimes beer news comes to us in sips and not gulps. Here are a few things that landed in our inbox recently and collectively warranted a single post.
Wingman Brewers
We recently told you that Wingman Brewers opened a taproom near the Tacoma Dome (read it). That aint all. Today we are happy to report that Wingman Brewers is now canning its beer. Learn more about it, including where you can find it, on the Wingman Facebook page.
Silver City Brewing

Last night’s Thirsty Sisters event at Pike Brewing was all it promised to be and a little bit more. The event, which I describe as a celebration of the role women play in the Pacific Northwest beer industry, featured a number of beers brewed by women. Also, a lot of great food from local vendors.
